Yes, I drive tractors too. Combined with the home energy audit work, I'm a character at heart. I received a call from a gentlemen that requires some help backfilling and leveling out the dirt around the foundation of his homes new addition.
Now that the floor is dry enough, I bunch my 24 horsepower tractor with bucket, attach the tiller and head over to his place. I find an old original house that has been constructed shortly following the wagon trains arrived. Attached sideways is the newest addition that actually stands apart and looks great.
Out front, facing the road, is the new two car garage. It's unmistakable a new garage. The brand new siding, paint and the gargoyles within the garage entrance update the structure. What you don't see from the road is the hobby room, three bedrooms and two baths behind the garage. I was fortunate to obtain a tour of the brand new digs after I obtained through with the exterior dirt moving. Warmtepompen
I acquired a new surprise when I turned the corner on the trunk side of the addition. I have never seen this before and it took me a few minutes to appreciate what I was looking at. Coming out of the concrete foundation, just above dirt line, were four sets of insulated copper lines and four sets of 1/2 inch PVC pipe. Could this be future heat pump efficiency?
I really could be wrong, however it looks like this man will install four heat pumps behind his house!
Why Four Heat Pumps?
About this time around, the homeowner and I experienced a little discussion concerning how he was thinking about heating and cooling this addition. Come to learn, he's it all planned out and, this indicates in my experience, he features a great, energy efficient plan.
Here will be the major points to his energy saving plan and heat pump efficiency.
1. During construction, while the inside and exterior walls were open, he had four mini-split heat pump units installed and the refrigerant lines put in place. Since the walls and underfloor areas were accessible, he could mount the units on interior walls. One in each bedroom and one in the hobby room.
2. Each heat pump unit will have a unique outside coil, compressor, indoor coil, and air handler. Each room even offers it's own wireless thermostat control.
